Did you know that if you happen to be a single mom, or even just a woman living in the United States for that matter, you are positioned to receive additional and unique financial assistance from the US Government?

For example, single moms in particular have been the target of several recent legislative motives to improve the financial future of those women seeking to balance raising their children and managing an income. It should be noted as well that the range of financial aid can range from aid to buy a home, to go back to school, to start a business, or even to help pay everyday bills.

If you’re interested in obtaining federal financial aid either through grants or loans, take the next couple of hours you have available and become familiar with the sorts of financial aid that may be available to you. Here’s what I recommend as a quick action plan:

1. Find websites that specialize in Financial Aid information to help separate fact from fiction.

2. Join forums and bulletin boards that allow contributors of like mind to share best practices and ease the learning curve.

3. Be sure to never let the red tape associated with applications become a deterrent. This is time well spent in terms of return on investment.

At this point, you’ll have a good grasp on the different types of financial aid made available to single moms and women in general. Now it’s time to make sure you understand the difference between a grant and a loan. A loan is by definition money that must be paid back. Whereas Grant funds are given free of any obligation to repay.

If possible, grants should be the first financial aid pursued, and thankfully, they come in almost any category of need. Housing, health, transportation, education, business and commerce are just a few of the more popular niches you can find grants available for financial aid. So this leads to the obvious question. Just who is allowed to apply for a grant?

Who can apply for a grant?

If you are a US citizen or are a foreign national that has lived in the US for at least the last three years, you are eligible to apply for a grant. Now I would be remiss if I didn’t offer a word of caution to be careful for scams. Unfortunately, this “free money from the government” industry has a bad reputation of being one where many capitalize on the needs of others. Always check sources against the US Government websites and if you feel skeptical about any financial aid opportunity, bring others into the decision making process.

There is money available to you, but you must initiate and take action. Act now while the new stimulus package and financial guidelines are in place to help ensure your needs are met.

By exploring what went wrong with commercial lenders and small business financing, business owners will be better prepared to avoid serious future problems with their working capital financing and commercial real estate financing. This is not a hypothetical issue for most commercial borrowers, particularly if they need help with determining practical small business finance choices that are available to them. Business owners should be prepared for the banks and bankers who caused the recent financial chaos to say that nothing has gone wrong with commercial lending and even if it did everything is back to normal. It is hard to imagine how anything could be further from the truth. Commercial lenders made serious mistakes, and according to a popular phrase, if business lenders and business owners forget these mistakes, they are doomed to repeat them in the future.

Greed seems to be a common theme for several of the most serious business finance mistakes made by many lending institutions. Unsurprising negative results were produced by the attempt to produce quick profits and higher-than-normal returns. The bankers themselves seem to be the only ones surprised by the devastating losses that they produced. After two years of trying unsuccessfully to get someone else to pay for their errors, the largest small business lender in the United States (CIT Group) recently declared bankruptcy. We are already seeing a record level of bank failures, and by most accounts many of the largest banks should have been allowed to fail but were instead supported by artificial government funding.

When making loans or buying securities such as those now referred to as toxic assets, there were many instances in which banks failed to look at cash flow. For some small business finance programs, a stated income commercial loan underwriting process was used in which commercial borrower tax returns were not even requested or reviewed. One of the most prominent business lenders aggressively using this approach was Lehman Brothers (which filed for bankruptcy due to a number of questionable financial dealings).

Bankers obsessed with generating quick profits frequently lost sight of a basic investment principle that asset valuations can decrease quickly and do not always increase. Many business loans were finalized in which the commercial borrower had little or no equity at risk. When buying the future toxic assets, banks themselves invested as little as three cents on the dollar. The apparent assumption was that if any downward fluctuation in value occurred, it would be a token three to five percent. In fact we have now seen many commercial real estate values decrease by 40 to 50 percent during the past two years. For banks which made the original commercial mortgage loans on such business properties, commercial real estate is proving to be the next toxic asset on their balance sheets. In contrast to the government bailouts to banks having toxic assets based on non-performing residential loans, it is unlikely that banks will receive similar financial assistance to cover commercial mortgage problems. As a result, a realistic expectation is that such commercial finance losses could produce serious problems for many banks and other lenders over the next several years. Much to the dismay of all business owners and as mentioned in the next paragraph, many commercial lending programs have already been dramatically reduced.

An ongoing problem is illustrated by misleading lender statements about their small business financing activities. While many banks have routinely indicated that they are providing business financing on a normal basis, the actual results by almost any standard indicate otherwise. It is obvious that lenders would rather not admit publicly that they are not lending normally because of the negative public relations impact this would cause. Business owners will need to be skeptical and cautious in their efforts to secure small business financing because of this particular issue alone.

There are practical and realistic small business finance solutions available to business owners in spite of the inappropriate commercial lending practices just described. Due to the lingering impression by some that there are not significant commercial lending difficulties currently, the intentional emphasis here has been a focus on the problems rather than the solutions . Despite contrary views from bankers and politicians, collectively most observers would agree that the multiple mistakes made by banks and other commercial lenders were serious and are likely to have long-lasting effects for commercial borrowers.

Stephen Bush and AEX Commercial Financing Group provide small business financing options for working capital loans, merchant cash advances and commercial real estate loans throughout the United States.

“You know it makes me unhappy (what’s that)

When brothas make babies, and leave a young mother to be a pappy

And since we all came from a woman

Got our name from a woman and our game from a woman

I wonder why we take from our women

Why we rape our women, do we hate our women?

I think it’s time to kill for our women

Time to heal our women, be real to our women

And if we don’t we’ll have a race of babies

That will hate the ladies, that make the babies

And since a man can’t make one

He has no right to tell a woman when and where to create one

So will the real men get up

I know you’re fed up ladies, but please keep your head up”

Tupac Shakur- Keep ya Head Up

Despite the continuous misogyny in hip-hop videos in which some rappers depict you as expletives, HIV becoming the leading cause of death for those of you ages 25-34, and the 3 million of you that are single and trying to raise your kids alone – you’ve kept your heads up to the sky!

Your population is 20 million strong (50% of the total black population) and there are 4.5 million of you in the critical 18-34 age group. While the 500,000 plus young black males are “keeping it gangsta” in America’s prison system (compared to 28,000 imprisoned black women), you’ve shown that being “gangsta” is not about wearing baggy pants, air force ones, selling drugs, and packing heat, but really about graduating from college, starting a business, raising a family and making money.

Black Women in Education

In the fall of 2005 there were reportedly 1.5 million black females enrolled in college, and unfortunately only 895,000 black males. Amazingly, black women also make up 65 percent of all Black American college graduates. I think black women have really figured it out and understand that if you are going to work for someone else and sell your labor to a corporation, the only way to make decent money and climb the corporate ladder is to improve your labor skills – and you improve them with education and/or experience. However, ambitious black women also know that the glass ceiling in Corporate America is real and many have decided to move on and pursue their entrepreneurial dreams.

Black Women in Business

In 2007, there were roughly 1.5 million Black American owned businesses in which 48 percent were owned by black women. The businesses owned by black women produced about $30 billion in sales. According to the Center for Women’s Business Research, between 1997 and 2006 black women owned businesses increased 147 percent, the fastest and largest increase of any other ethnic group – I ain’t mad at cha.

What’s fueling the entrepreneurial ambitions of Black American women? “They have growing levels of education, of work experience and, increasingly, management and sales experience, so entrepreneurship is the next frontier,” explains Julie Weeks, executive director of the National Women’s Business Council. She remarked, “When they butt up against the glass ceiling, if they aren’t going any further, they think, why not do it for myself?” Most black women owned businesses start out part-time and grow after only a few years.

Single Black Mothers

In 2003, the 3.1 million single Black mothers in America headed more than 30 percent of all black families. About 18 percent did not graduate high school, 37 percent received a high school diploma, 34 percent had some college and roughly 10 percent had a bachelor’s degree or higher.

Their lack of education clearly explains why 40 percent of them live in poverty, however the majority of single black mothers (58 percent) were at or above the 2003 U.S. poverty line. Many single black mothers say they struggle because they cannot find affordable quality childcare and were recently victims of domestic violence.

Black Women & Domestic Violence

According to the Family Violence Prevention Fund, married and unmarried Black American women have the highest prevalence of being beaten (67 percent), compared to White and Mexican American women. It’s a shame that some brothas feel like they have to beat a black woman, I think it’s mainly because they feel they have been conquered mentally and don’t know how to express themselves any other way or they have seen other black men do it and think it’s acceptable. If you have been a victim of domestic violence please get help at www.endabuse.org/resources/gethelp/

Kelly Williams, motivational speaker and parent educator, is the founder of www.singlemamahood.com and offers the following free advice to single black mothers, “don’t argue with the father in front of the children or on the phone with the children nearby; count to ten or write it down for later if you have to.” And about absent fathers she remarked, “let your kids keep pictures and mementos from their relationship with their father; don’t make them choose between you and their dad.” For more single black mother tips and coping strategies please visit her website mentioned above.

Black Women & Interracial Dating

A 2006 Essence.com poll found that 81% of participants approved of black women dating non-black men. According to a U.S. Census Bureau report in 2000, 95,000 black women were married to white men and in 2005, the numbers increased to 134,000.

In 2007, a CNN.com study reported “They’re taking cues from their favorite stars — from actress Shar Jackson to tennis pro Venus Williams — as well as support blogs, how-to books, interracially themed novels, and movies like Something New, starring Sanaa Lathan, telling them it’s OK to “date out.”

What other reasons force “sista’s” to think Mr. Right could be white? Well, maybe it’s the fact that 2.5% of all black men were in prison in 2006, they’re twice as likely to be unemployed compared to white men, and there’s an apparent lack of “professional brothas” in America. In 2005, Black females 25 years or older who had a Bachelors degree or higher outnumbered Black males 2 to 1.

Another reason for the lack of “professional brothas,” grumble many black women is because many successful black men are choosing white women. For some, they argue, white wives are the ultimate status symbol. In 2006, nearly 75 percent of the 400,000 black-white households involved black husbands.

A message to the Brothas

Well brothas, like Jay-Z said, what more can I say? Our black women are not waiting for us to deal with our egos, pride, and immaturity. We must get educated and financially prepare ourselves for the new digital economy. We also must rid ourselves of the mentality that promotes “pimpin” and “thuggin”, smoking weed and drinking all day, not worrying about a job, thinking its cool to still live with our mommas, and engaging in criminal activity. And we have the nerve to call ourselves “hustlas” and “gangstas?”

We have been focused on exploiting everybody so much that we have lost respect for the only people that have stood by our side since slavery, civil rights, 80’s crack era and hip-hop degradation in this white man’s world – Black women! Are we really grown men? Or just oversized boys still unable to control ourselves and only worried about satisfying our sexual desires, watching videos, playing Play Station, Xbox, and Wii’s.

How many mafia figures have you seen watching videos all day and palying video games? Not Meyer Lansky, Johnny Torrio or Carlo Gambino; the greatest mobsters you’ve never heard about who mentored Al Capone, and Lucky Luciano. Amazingly, they all sucessfully retired, took care of their families, respected their wives and died of natural causes — Now thats “gangsta.” Come on brothas, we supposed to be grown men! Create Wealth, Enjoy Life!

James “Bird” Guess

President & Founder

James “Bird” Guess graduated college with dreams of climbing the corporate ladder and becoming a prominent financial executive. But after only working a year in “Corporate America”, James grew bitter of the politics and bureaucracy associated and decided to venture out on his own to become a full-time entrepreneur.

With a repossession and other unpaid debts on his credit, James had a negative net worth. Starting with only $1,000 saved from college, he single-handedly built a quarter million dollar apparel business from the trunk of his car. Shortly thereafter, his business model would transition from retailer to wholesaler of apparel, which generated $750,000 dollars in revenue.

James could now take one step closer toward financial freedom. As an entrepreneur, he has bought and sold over $1.5 million of apparel. He now uses his financial acumen to help individuals, entrepreneurs, businesses and investors create wealth in their lives! James is now the President & Founder of BlacBird Investments LLC. http://www.BlacBirds.com & http://www.theblackeconomy.com Create Wealth! & Enjoy Life!

In these uncertain economic times, an European Union Grant could become very helpful, no matter who you are. Since the European Union started the system of grants, loans and financial incentives has helped many EU Citizens. The problem has always been many of these grants and incentives, only went to people who knew about them, because the European Union never openly shared the information.

This has been one of the European Unions biggest secrets, and thanks to the internet and in particular MSN, anyone European Union Citizen can search in their own language, the grants available and even receive updates on grants in their own area. The types are grants and incentives range from transport allowances for the unemployed, to mortgage relief and business grants. These depend on your Country, area and own personal situation, and everyone is entitled to applying for a grant.

So how do you find out?

MSN have a free online Grants Advisor, all you have to do is to go to search for the MSN EU Grants Advisor, log in using your msn live passport, search the regulary updated database of available grants in your own language, and even subscribe to regular grant updates. Previously, many Grants and incentives were awarded for families and businesses who were experiencing financial problems, the long term unemployed were offered enterprise allowances and in some cases an extra travel allowance to find work.

This is not even a commercial service, exposing one of the European Unions biggest secrets, and awarding grants to the people who really deserve them, rather than for the few in the know..

· The graphs and statistical projections would serve as cherry on the cake.

· You may also spend a dollar or two on the free kits available on the internet that help you make this report better. The money you spend is only the shipping & handling charges.

· For education the loans & grants come in various forms for several courses and depending on your requirements. For instance there are grants for working mothers, there are loans for the single mothers, etc.

· You can apply for numerous loans as you wish to as far as they meet your business or education needs. There is no limitation on that.

These days many smart and enterprising American women are becoming self-sufficient and establishing their own businesses. The most resourceful are using women’s business grants to do so. A very generous amount of faith and free money is offered to American women by the US government each year to assist these determined and resourceful ladies to achieve their professional goals. And reportedly, the government has very substantial reasoning for doing so. Statistics have shown that American women who embark on new and exciting business ventures have proven to, as of late, have a thirty percent higher success rate than that of American men. In addition, the rate of entrepreneurial success, and personal interest in achieving self-employment among American women is increasing at an accelerating pace.

As a positive result, the government has openly acknowledged their past injustices and prejudices towards the female gender, and recognized the advanced capability that they possess. Ultimately it became apparent that investing in the women of America was in actuality, investing in America. Don’t get me wrong, there are a numerous amount of intelligent, successful, and deserving men who also serve to benefit our nation with their enterprising determination, but that has already been widely recognized, and today’s focus is directed towards enabling American women the same advantages that were once favored upon the male population. There is a very generous amount of free government money available to both men and women, of any age, race, or social grouping. But this is why there are small business grants designed specifically for women.

Statistics don’t lie, and any smart investor will put their money where the odds are greater. Right now, the ladies are a winning bet. Women’s small business grants have proven to pay off time and time again. Hardly seems like a gamble so the government is placing their bets Lady Luck.

Apply for Personal Grants.

See how much money you qualify to receive today and never pay back. Get Grants for Individuals

The government and other private foundations have made over $800 billion in free grant money available just this year, and this isn’t too far out of the ordinary. Every year the government provides these cash grants to help people and small businesses meet their financial goals. As a result, Americans over the age of 18 can apply for and receive government money that never has to be paid back.

Who Can Get Free Grant Money?

Government grants are available for one reason mainly. To help stimulate the economy and keep America moving forward as a competitive country. That means these grants are specifically for people and organizations that can take the money and do good things with it. However, the government also has to play a defensive role and provide this money to people who need financial aid or they will make matters worse economically. Take the mortgage crisis as an example. When millions of people defaulted on their mortgage, the economy suffered. The government must prevent that from happening.

Therefore, government grants are mostly available to small business owners (or those with an idea to start a small business), students who want to further their education, those who want to develop their professional skills. Grants are also available to those who need financial aid in order to avert a financial catastrophe, such as people in debt.

There are hundreds of government grant programs that provide billions of dollars that don’t ever have to be paid back. When you access the grant database, you’ll find many that you may be eligible to receive. There’s no limit on the number of cash grants you can apply for and obtain, so don’t let that stop you.

Instantly access to the database to get your free grant money. See how much you can qualify to receive and obtain your check in as little as 7 days. Start now at http://www.govfunds.info

Are you a woman? Or are you a man that wants to start up a small business for a woman that is your friend or a member of your family? Yes, you need financing… then you should consider business loans for women.

Very high quality information as regards this can be found through Small Business Association. Going to the SBA is worth your time.

The first thing you might want to do here is to get yourself familiar with the SBA, know their operations and guidelines, and study through their informational bulletins etc.

Make use of their online resource, visit their websites and blogs, and read the frequently asked questions section carefully as you may come across a satisfied client who was once burdened with your present business financing situation. The more quality time you spend with the SBA, the better the chances of getting great end results for your quest.

Your search should start from the SBA requirements for loans approval. You will have to meet their basic requirements in order to be considered. Here are some of the basic requirements:

Your application should have been declined by banks and lending institutions. The SBA will not approve your loan application if you have succeeded in getting your financing elsewhere.

Note that you will need collateral in order to get a loan from the SBA since they do not offer unsecured loans. They offer secured loans only. Most times the collateral you give will be your valuable personal or professional asset.

The freedoms that we enjoy in the United States make it truly the “land Of Opportunity”. An entrepreneur can succeed in the United States, as long as they are willing to take a risk. The larger the risk the person is willing to take, the larger the reward. However, some people can go their entire lives without having a chance to take that risk. The government and private organizations give out millions of dollars in grants every year to entrepreneurs to help give them the ability to take a risk in order to make this country a better place to live. However many of these organizations appear to be hesitant to give a grant for women owned businesses. This might be true in many instances, but there are actually government grants and private foundations in the United States setup for the sole purpose of funding women owned businesses.

The government does not actually set aside very much money to fund grants for women owned businesses, but the government does have quite a few grants for minority owned businesses. Some people might not realize right away that these grants can easily be taken advantage of to help fund a women owned business. Women fall into the minority category, so almost all of these grants are available to fund women owned businesses. If you are unable to receive a grant from the government, then the government also offers very low interest loans that can be used by women owned businesses and paid back over a period of time.

If you are unable to get any help from the government then you can always turn to the private foundations that available. Some of these foundations were setup for the sole purpose of giving grants to women owned businesses. A few of the foundations that are available are the Women’s Business Grants presented by Womens-Finance.com, Amber Grants for Women, and WomensNet Online grants. These different foundations award grants for women owned businesses only. Some of the grants are to help start a business and some of the grants can be used to help expand or grow a business that has already been started.
